Abstract

The study aimed to determine the impact of smart libraries on achieving sustainable development. A descriptive-analytical approach was used, and a questionnaire was distributed to a study sample consist of 54 smart library employees in Iraq to collect data. The study reached a number of important findings, including that smart libraries are the primary driver of sustainable development economically, socially, and culturally, as well as providing access to information and communications technology and employing employees who help teach new digital skills. One of the most important recommendations is the need to unify an affiliated body for smart libraries. This body should be responsible for funding and developing libraries, training their staff, and developing a written policy for building and growing collections that ensures coverage of all interests and meets the requirements and needs of the local community.
